An Inclusive Ethos
Embrace Your Individuality
Maria Black founded her eponymous jewellery brand in 2010. Since then, the Copenhagen-born, Danish-Irish designer has created contemporary fine and fashion jewellery collections that are driven by the brand’s inclusive ethos, and which invites you to explore and embrace your individuality in fresh and creative ways.
Exploring Creativity
Today, Maria Black is run from Copenhagen by a team of dedicated individuals who uphold the brand’s founding belief that personal style and fashion are not for anyone else to dictate, but for you to explore. They are passionate about bringing you the pieces that let your creativity run free.
Modern, Elegant Jewellery
Using a combination of traditional craftmanship and modern techniques, the sculptural shapes of Maria Black's precious metal designs are inspired by sources as diverse as everyday objects, people, subcultures and life moments. The designs are modern, elegant and sophisticated.
Personal Style
Jewellery That Works For You
Maria Black designs ensure jewellery becomes an intrinsic part of your personal style. Their pared-back styles are for everyone and allow the wearer’s personality to shine through — each piece seemingly changes depending on how it’s styled.
Let the fun begin and create your bespoke look. Maria Black's jewellery collections are driven by their inclusive ethos, encouraging you to explore and embrace your unique self in new, forward-thinking ways.
Breaking the Rules
By eschewing the rules and following her instincts, Maria Black aims to revolutionise the way people consider and wear jewellery, entering new and uncharted style territories. Maria Black are a truly inclusive brand.
Ditching Stereotypes
Maria Black encourage boys to wear pearls and dare girls to ditch the overtly feminine in favour of strong silhouettes. They are passionate about bringing you the pieces that let you be your true self.
Sustainability
Recycled Silver
All of Maria Black's silver is 100% recycled sterling silver - recycled from pre-owned jewellery, industrial metals and electronic components which are refined, purified and transformed.
Recycling silver instead of producing new metals decreases CO2 emissions, toxic waste and energy consumption.
Recycling silver instead of mining it decreases erosion and contamination in groundwater (mercury and cyanide from mines can cause harm to humans and animals).

Step 1. Mix some dish soap into lukewarm water.
Step 2. Soak the jewellery in the water for 5 minutes.
Step 3. Use a soft cloth or your fingers to gently polish the surface.
Step 4. Rinse the jewellery in water and dry with a clean soft cloth. Don't use paper, as it can scratch the jewellery.
You should clean your Maria Black jewellery as often as needed to keep it looking its best. A gentle cleaning with a soft, damp cloth should be sufficient for most pieces.
Maria Black is committed to sustainability and uses recycled materials whenever possible. All 925 sterling silver is recycled. The brand also sources its materials responsibly and works with ethical suppliers.
A gold plating means that a layer of 22K gold is deposited on top of another metal, in our case silver. The silver will therefore become visible, if the plating wears off.
Maria Black plate with a 22-23.5K gold alloy and have adjusted the colour to resemble a 14-18K colour. It is difficult to accurately predict how long a gold plating will last. It greatly depends on how often you wear it, where on the body it’s placed and how active you are.
Maria Black strive to provide a high quality of plating so they use a vermeil plating thickness on all rings and bracelets and a 2 micron plating on earrings and necklaces
Rhodium is an extraordinarily rare, silvery-white, hard, corrosion-resistant, and chemically inert transition metal. It is a noble metal and a member of the platinum group. Maria Black use a white rhodium plating on all of our silver jewellery.
Silver naturally oxidises over time and the white rhodium plating helps to delay this considerably, since the metal is much harder than silver. It also minimises scratches.
