Drehgriffel Nr. 2 is a wonderful mechanical pencil from Leuchtturm1917, which really is a pleasure to use.

The mechanism of this writing and drawing instrument is made in Germany. When the  twistable head is turned, the chuck opens at the tip and the graphite is pushed forward at the same time. When the twist mechanism is released, the chuck closes and holds the graphite in place.

Inside the Drehgriffel Nr. 2 there is a chamber that holds several refills at once and immediately pushes the next one forward when the other has been used up.

Over 100 years' experience

Leuchtturm1917

Leuchtturm are a family firm, who have been making their high-quality stationery since 1917.They produce well thought out notebooks and planners which are a pleasure to use. When developing their products, they pay attention to every detail- because details make the difference.

The Little Things

Attention to Detail

What makes Leuchtturm1917 notebooks special? It's the attention to detail that we love here at USTUDIO. The notebooks are made of chamois-coloured paper, to make handwritten notes more comfortable to read.

They have page markers, a contents page and page numbers. There is a folding pocket in the cover for loose notes or business cards, as well as title and spine stickers and a practical elastic closure. There are several perforated pages at the back of every notebook, in case you want to share a note with someone else. Leuchtturm1917 have thought of everything!

Why Notebooks Matter

We Think with the Hand

Characterised by a love of the product, functional details, outstanding quality and a wide range of colours, what Leuchturm1917 stands for – above all – is a clear design language, which has won many awards.

Leuchturm1917 are led by a conviction: thoughts grow into words, sentences and pictures. Memories become stories. Ideas are transformed into projects. Notes inspire insight.
Leuchturm1917 believe that we write and understand, learn, see and think – with the hand. Read on to find out more…

To Grip is to Grasp

It's in your Hands

Sense and experience. Feel, touch, grip and grasp. “The hand is the window to the mind,” said German philosopher Immanuel Kant. We take things that interest us into our hands to help us understand them.

Our sense of touch is so sophisticated that we even describe things we have grasped with our hands in the dark in much greater detail than when we only see them. Every contact, each touch sparks a firework in the brain. When we grip, we grasp.
Each time we take pen in hand and put it to paper, we spark a firework.

Write it Down

Bring your Thoughts to Life!

No keyboard is able to replace the valuable thinking and processing mechanisms that occur when we put pen to paper.
We write and understand, learn, see and think – with the hand. Writing by hand is thinking on paper. We allow our thoughts to run free. This empowers us to step back. The resulting distance helps us to objectively view plans and projects.

By writing our thoughts down, we bring them to life.
