Large Hand Made Blue Glass Flower Vase + Candle Lantern

The Rotunda Vase is a blue glass flower vase with a central band of architectural inspired pleated texture. It has a contemporary slim angular shape with slanting rim and base. This large size can also be used as a lantern and is designed to hold a large pillar candle. A large textured unscented pillar candle with a 60 hour burn time is included in the price.

The vase is mouth blown by skilled glassblowers into specially crafted moulds to create an angular vase with a partial corrugated texture. The Sapphire blue coloured glass is cased in a layer of clear glass before blowing to achieve the deep colour. The rim is then cut and polished to create a flat modern finish.

Magic at Work

Skilled Craftmanship

The raw ingredients sand, ash and lime are heated in the kiln until molten. Glassblowers work in teams, with each person responsible for a different element of the process - training for years to perfect their craft.

Once the basic form is blown, the piece is finished by hand while the glass is still hot. One of the most skilled finishing techniques is scissor cutting while the glass is hot to produce a thick, rounded, rim.

Glass as a material is infinitely recyclable. LSA International also use discarded waste material in their recycled glass collections, transforming bottles and jars into useful products.
