Slim Mouth Blown Glass Flower Vase with Iridescent Lustre

The Epoque Sapphire Vase is slim, tall and mouth-blown with thick heavy base. It's made from cased-coloured glass and decorated with iridescent lustre. Designed for single or few flower arrangements or foliage.

The Sapphire Lustre vase is mouth blown by skilled glassblowers to create its long slender cylinder shape. Layers of coloured and clear glass are gathered and shaped before blowing into the mould. The rim is then scissor cut to achieve a thick rounded finish and an iridescent lustre is applied by hand while the glass is still hot.

Designers and makers work collaboratively to translate ideas into reality. Prototypes are made to test different concepts and techniques.

Magic at Work

Skilled Craftmanship

The raw ingredients sand, ash and lime are heated in the kiln until molten. Glassblowers work in teams, with each person responsible for a different element of the process - training for years to perfect their craft.

Once the basic form is blown, the piece is finished by hand while the glass is still hot. One of the most skilled finishing techniques is scissor cutting while the glass is hot to produce a thick, rounded, rim.
