Edo Series Hand-Thrown Stoneware Bowl Made in Copenhagen in Coloured Glazes for Serving, Dining and Everyday Table Use

The Spring Bowl by Studio Arhoj is a versatile stoneware bowl designed for everyday dining and serving. Part of the Edo Series, it reflects the studio’s more expressive, tactile approach to ceramics, where form and glaze are given equal attention.

Each bowl is wheel-thrown from durable stoneware in Studio Arhoj’s Copenhagen workshop. The shape is open and gently curved, with a balanced foot that gives it a stable presence on the table. Its proportions make it suitable for a wide range of uses — from breakfast and soups to salads, noodles or shared side dishes.

  • Hand-cast porcelain with reactive glaze finish
  • Rounded profile with low footed base
  • Each bowl varies in glaze tone and surface texture
  • Dense porcelain body with a smooth weighted feel
  • Each bowl is individually wheel thrown and hand glazed by a member of the Studio Arhoj team, ensuring that no two are exactly alike. Items will differ slightly, but will be within the colour spectrum of the bowl pictured in the photo.

Studio Arhoj’s glaze work gives every Spring Bowl its individual finish. Using layered reactive glazes, the surface develops movement and variation during firing, creating subtle shifts in colour, speckling and texture. No two bowls come out exactly alike, but each maintains the same considered form.

The Edo Series leans into slightly more sculptural, character-led ceramics compared to the studio’s table-focused ranges. The Spring Bowl sits comfortably within this space — functional enough for daily use, yet distinctive enough to stand out when set on the table.

Whether used for serving or as part of a regular place setting, the Spring Bowl is built to be used often. Solid, well-proportioned and visually expressive, it brings a sense of studio craft into everyday meals.

Studio Arhoj is a Copenhagen-based ceramics studio known for its bold glazes, soft forms and distinctive mix of Scandinavian design and Japanese ceramic tradition. Each piece is shaped, cast and finished by hand, with colours that shift and react during firing to create completely unique results.

From collectable figurines to everyday tableware, Studio Arhoj objects sit between function and expression. Produced in small batches, no two pieces are ever exactly the same which is part of what makes the studio’s work so recognisable and widely collected.
