Hand-Thrown Tokyo Series Porcelain Cup in Bold Glazes

The Quench Cup by Studio Arhoj is a taller, handle-free tumbler designed for everyday drinks at the table. Part of the studio’s Tokyo Series collection, it sits comfortably alongside the other Arhoj Mugs as a versatile piece of modern drinkware.

Each cup is slip-cast from porcelain and finished by hand in Studio Arhoj’s Copenhagen workshop. The porcelain body gives the piece a lighter, refined feel while keeping the form clean and balanced. Its taller profile and generous capacity make it ideal for water, tea, coffee or fresh juice.

  • Approximately 8.5 x 8cm,
  • +/- 340ml
  • Each mug is individually wheel-thrown and hand-glazed, so variations in colour and finish will occur.
  • Photos are only indicative. Items will differ slightly, but will be within the colour spectrum of the Quench Cup in the photo.

Studio Arhoj’s glaze work gives each Quench Cup its character. The studio is known for layered reactive glazes that move and develop during firing, producing soft transitions in colour, natural speckling and flowing surface textures. As each piece is glazed and fired in small batches, subtle variations appear from cup to cup while the underlying shape remains consistent.

The handle-free design keeps the silhouette simple and easy to hold, while also making the cups easy to stack or mix with other pieces from the Tokyo Series. Used on its own or as part of a set, the Quench Cup fits naturally into everyday routines.

At approximately 8.5 x 8cm, this mug can hold +/- 340ml. It is both dishwasher and microwave safe, although hand washing is suggested for optimal care (although it is certainly too nice for the dishwasher!).

Studio Arhoj is a Copenhagen-based ceramics studio known for its bold glazes, soft forms and distinctive mix of Scandinavian design and Japanese ceramic tradition. Each piece is shaped, cast and finished by hand, with colours that shift and react during firing to create completely unique results.

From collectable figurines to everyday tableware, Studio Arhoj objects sit between function and expression. Produced in small batches, no two pieces are ever exactly the same which is part of what makes the studio’s work so recognisable and widely collected.

  • Approx. 8.5 x 8cm

  • Holds +/- 340ml

  • Dishwasher and microwave safe.

  • Hand washing suggested (too nice for dishwasher!)
