The Bullet Journal Edition of the Drehgriffel Nr. 1 pairs LEUCHTTURM1917's award-winning pen design with a distinctive purple finish created for the Bullet Journal® collection. Precision-milled aluminium and brass give it a reassuring weight, while the matte barrel and contrasting brass tip retain the clean, architectural look of the original.

Fitted with a smooth 0.5mm black gel refill, it delivers crisp, consistent lines with a ceramic ball tip. The signature twist mechanism is satisfyingly precise, and the refillable construction is built for years of everyday writing. A subtle Bullet Journal® lightning bolt engraving on the twist head distinguishes this special edition.

Developed in Japan in order to reproduce, as accurately as possible, the fineness of ink strokes that were traditionally created with a brush. This makes the multiple award-winning Drehgriffel Nr. 1 pen a premium instrument for writing and drawing.

Shodō, the way of artistic handwriting:

Japan is a country which is well-known for its writing culture. Shodō is a Japanese word which is often translated as ‘the way of artistic handwriting’ or beautiful writing and describes the very moment in which a thought flows through the hand and becomes visible on paper.

Gel ink has a higher viscosity than standard ballpoint pen ink. This viscosity ensures easy and flowing handwriting. Giving a line width of only 0.5mm, the Japanese gel pen creates fine writing with a clear outline. Even with a gentle stroke, the ink flows very evenly via the pen tip onto the paper.

This is due to a ceramic ball bearing which dictates the perfect flow of ink in the tip. The interaction between the ceramic’s smooth surface and the precise positioning of the ball bearing ensures a constant flow of ink despite the fact that very little ink is released.

This ballpoint pen is crafted from aluminium and brass with precision milled parts, and features a ceramic ball bearing and 0.5mm stroke size.

What makes Leuchtturm1917 notebooks special? It's the attention to detail that we love here at USTUDIO. The notebooks are made of chamois-coloured paper, to make handwritten notes more comfortable to read.

They have page markers, a contents page and page numbers. There is a folding pocket in the cover for loose notes or business cards, as well as title and spine stickers and a practical elastic closure. There are several perforated pages at the back of every notebook, in case you want to share a note with someone else. Leuchtturm1917 have thought of everything!
